Debt Recovery for Transport and Logistics Businesses
Transport and logistics companies frequently extend credit to business customers for freight, cartage, and logistics services. Outstanding freight invoices are among the more common commercial debts referred to Merion.
Freight invoices and cartage accounts: B2B recovery
When a business customer does not pay for freight, cartage, or logistics services, Merion can assist with commission-only recovery. The key requirement is that the debtor is another business — not a consumer.
Account type
Freight invoices, cartage accounts, and logistics service fees — B2B accounts where the debtor is another business. Consumer freight accounts are outside the standard programme.
PPSR relevance
In freight, goods may be subject to a lien in certain circumstances — this is separate from the debt recovery process. If you are holding goods pending payment, seek legal advice on your lien rights before referring the debt to Merion.
Commission-only
No upfront cost. Merion is paid from what is recovered — commission is deducted from collected amounts. Nothing is payable if recovery is not achieved.
Interstate debts
Transport businesses regularly deal with debtors in multiple states. Merion operates across Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory — interstate debtors are handled within that footprint.
From overdue invoice to referral
- 1
Confirm the debt is overdue and self-collection has been attempted
Merion's referral programme is for accounts where your own collection efforts have not produced payment. Provide signed consignment notes, freight rate agreements, purchase orders, and delivery receipts — whatever you have.
- 2
Refer via the referral form
Complete the referral form with the basic details. Merion contacts you within one business day to confirm the referral and discuss documentation.
- 3
Merion assesses and contacts the debtor
Merion reviews the account and engages with the debtor directly. You are kept informed of progress throughout the recovery process.
