Debt Recovery for Construction Businesses

Construction businesses face specific credit challenges: progress claim disputes, subcontractor non-payment, builder insolvency, and retention amounts withheld. Merion handles the commercial recovery side.

Commercial recovery for B2B construction accounts

Outstanding construction invoices are among the most common commercial debts referred to Merion. Head contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers with overdue B2B accounts can refer those accounts for commission-only recovery.

Who refers

Head contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers with outstanding B2B construction invoices — where the debtor is another business, not a consumer.

What makes a strong referral

Commercial invoices, supply agreements, and subcontract accounts with strong documentation — signed subcontracts, purchase orders, and delivery receipts. The more documentation, the stronger the referral.

Security of Payment Acts

Merion does not provide legal advice on Security of Payment Act adjudication — those are formal legal processes. Merion's recovery is for accounts outside or after SoP Act processes, not accounts in active statutory adjudication.

Commission-only

No upfront fee. Merion is paid from what is recovered — commission is deducted from collected amounts. Nothing is payable if recovery is not achieved.

How to refer a construction account

Three steps to referral

  1. 1

Check the debt is not in active SoP Act adjudication

If the debt is currently subject to a Security of Payment Act adjudication, that process must be completed first. Merion's recovery is for accounts outside or after the statutory process.

  2. 2

    Refer via the referral form

Complete the referral form with the basic details — debtor name, amount, and what documentation you have. Merion contacts you within one business day.

  3. 3

Merion assesses and contacts the debtor

Merion reviews the account, engages with the debtor, and manages all correspondence. You are kept informed of progress throughout.
